LLR: A Retrospective

In reflecting on how Love Like Red came to be, it was an easy line to draw all the way back to kindergarden - about 30 years ago.

I have such fond memories of getting crafty with my sister over these delightful cards we made for our very lucky parents! Thankfully, I've come a long way since the misspelled words and flap doors to reveal my cute face and bad hair but I thought it would be fun to share some of them with you!

Towards the bottom center is my awesome haircut and turtleneck and, if I recall, this outfit that my mom made for me that I LOVED! It had these cute little buttons on the collar, blue and pink line pattern on grey and the turtleneck I am still unsure about. Amazing how we can look back on our style and wonder why but in the moment it was the best thing that ever happened to us.

The cards are their own special treat, aren't they? These are only a small selection of the handmade cards I made in my childhood. Drawing has always been my thing and making cards was its trusty sidekick.

Can we talk about the list I made there? Chipmunks? I don't think I've ever seen a live one but I may very well have meant Alvin, Simon and Theodore. And how I felt it necessary to sign off 'your daughter' as if my mom might not know which Melissa was sending her this very inspiring love list? Much has changed in 30 years but what remains the same is my love of creating, making cards for people to enjoy and my perpetually candid nature.

The card making journey continues.
